文法的解釈ができません。

下記は他の方が質問として投稿された文章ですが、
Of all living writers he is the one the peculiar turn of whose mind best fits him to write on this subject.
質問の内容は
【 (1)文頭のofの理解
(2)the one の後すぐthe peculiarとなって前置詞がない
(3)of whose の理解
教えてください。】
でした。

上記投稿の回答例として、

ここで質問ですが、

上記のwhoseをwhichで書き直すと、上記の例題からすれば、
He is the one the peculiar turn of of which mind best fits him 
to write on this subject.
となるのが自然なような気がしますが・・・と言うのも上記例題は
whose＝of which で　whose＝whichではないはずです。
上記の文章は文法的に理解に苦しむ文になりませんか？

私の理解に間違があればご指摘頂ければ幸いです。

a man を「彼」と受けて，「彼のシャツ」his shirt
の代わりが whose shirt です。
「その人のシャツ」となり，
the sleeve of whose shirt is red で「その人のシャツの袖が赤い」とつながっていきます。
the sleeve of / whose shirt is red でなく，
is red の主語は the sleeve (of whose shirt) です。

which という「もの」を受ける関係代名詞にはなりません。

でも，この英語では whose の先行詞が直前の roof にはなりません。

関係代名詞の所有格 whose は whose father, whose name, whose roof のように，必ず後の名詞とセットになります。

いちおう基本的なことを言っておくと、whoseはここでは人を先行詞としますから、of whichとはなりません。
先行詞が物だったとしても、 語順はof of which mindではなく、of the mind of whichですね。of whichはwhoseがかかる名詞の後ろに置かれますから(whoseが消えると無冠詞になるからmindの前にtheを置く)。
いずれにせよ、原文の先行詞と関係詞の距離がすでに長いですから、そういう書き換えは可能でも悪文とされるでしょう（先行詞が分かりにくいし、ofが二つも間に入るし）。ただ純粋に文法的に言うと可能だと思います。

元の文を解釈する場合、the peculiar turn ofを's peculiar turnと書き換えると理解しやすいかと思います。つまり、
He is the one whose mind's peculiar turn best fits～.
この文は
He is the one.
His mind's peculiar turn best fits～.
の後ろの文のhisがwhoseに変わって二文をつないでいるわけです。

元の文でも同じことです（his→whoseで二文をつなぐ）。
the one ときた後に、the peculiar turn of～と続く形は、たしかにちょっと力技っぽいですね。でも、文法的には問題ないかと思います。

こういう質問のなさり方は明らかに削除対象かと思いますが，一点だけ申し上げておきます。

He is the one the peculiar turn of whose mind best fits him to
write on this subject.　
この whose を which に書き換えられるとは言っていません。

この whose と，後の whose は別です。
後の He lives in a house whose roof is red.
が，He lives in a house the roof of which is red.
と書き換えられるというだけです。
この whose はものを先行詞としており，whose はものも先行詞にできるのですが，of which で書くこともできます。

たまたま，同じ whose ですので，錯覚されるかもしれないとは思いましたが，
the one the peculiar ～というつながりが，
a house the roof ～と似ているので例として挙げました。

しかも of whose と of が出ているので，さらに紛らわしいですが，
単純に whose → of which であり，
of whose ～のような場合，which で書き換えることは無理です。
しかも，先行詞は「人」です。

文法的解釈ができません。
