回答者：noname#65902 綴りや語源を知らなかったので調べてみました。

セムスの綴りは SEMS らしいです。

ここでは全部大文字なので何かの略語かと思いましたが、

の最初の文章によると、

SEMS とは ITW社の登録商標で、
何かの頭文字でなく、"pre-asSEMbled washers and screws. "
の SEM と、一般に箱入で買われるので最後に s をつけた、
というように書かれています。
